Women Development Cell

The Women Development Cell, in Swami Vivekananda College of Education is established to empower girl students and staff and enhance their understanding of issues related to women in the society and to face the challenges with great courage. With a view to take up women’s issue and problems, the cell aims at creating awareness of their rights and duties. It also provides a platform for women to share their experience and views regarding their status in the society. Added to it suggestion for improvement and empowerment among themselves has been given. Aiming at intellectual and social upliftment of the female students, the committee stands for facilitating women’s empowerment through guest lecturers, seminars, awareness program and other welfare activities.

The cell was established in 2017 for promoting gender equality and gender justice in all its intervention and practices. The aim of the cell is to enhance understanding of issues related to women and to make the college campus a safe place for them.

Women cell aims at empowering and orienting women to recognize their true potential and to help them attain their own stand in the society. Its goal is the overall development in all spheres of their life.

Main objectives of the Women Development Cell:

  • The college aims to provide and maintain a healthy, safe, congenial learning environment for girl students, female staff free from gender discrimination and sexual harassment.

  • To Building a positive image of women in the society and recognizing their contributions in social, economic and political sphere.

  • To enhance self-esteem and self confidence among women students and staff.

  • To foster decision making ability.

  • To increase awareness of women related social issues, health, employment and gender related matters.

  • To realize the role of women in building up of a healthy society.​

 

Functions:

  • Conduct various activities such as special lecture, workshop, discussion, debates to create awareness on different aspects such as health, women rights, gender equality etc.

  • Promote every girl child of the institute and the society to learn self-defense techniques to defend herself from any sort of physical abuse and harassment.

  • Enhance self-esteem and self confidence among women students and staff.
